It's Randal here (that's after Tony Randal, just so you know).  I have not been in rescue long so I don't know my name yet.  My foster mom calls me "Boogie Boy" most of the time..........she thinks that fits me better.  I've been fully checked out by the vet and am a very healthy 3-5 yr. old Yorkie-Poodle mix....at least that's what we think.  I have been neutered and had a dental (with a few extractions) so I am ready for my forever home.  Since I was a stray in Franklin County, we really don't know for sure what I am mixed with, but I definitely have Yorkie in me:-))  I don't have the typical terrier personality and I'm extremely friendly............never met a stranger.  My foster mom says I am a real cuddle boy, love sharing lap time every chance I get.  I also love the doggie beds around here - and there are plenty.  I have 3 doggie playmates so I am good with other dogs.  Since there are no kitties here, they don't know if I'm good with them but since I have such a sweet personality, I'm sure I will do fine with them.  Children are ok so long as they know how to treat small breed dogs as we like to be treated with a gentle hand.  Since I am a very small guy of only 7 lbs., it will be helpful if the children have experience around small dogs.  I am working on my leash training and doing very well.  I seem to have good potty manners which will need to be monitored when I find my new forever home, until I know where and when you will take me out to potty.

I would love to have a fenced yard to run and play in as that will keep me very safe.  I'd also like to have regular walks to keep me exercised and help me to stay a balanced pup.  If I don't have any fur-brothers or fur-sisters in my forever home, I hope my new family would take me to doggie parks or have play dates with other dogs so I can stay a balanced pup.  Keeping me social with other dogs is very important and will be necessary to keeping me happy and friendly.  I would do well with any type of family so long as I am well cared for and loved.

If you have any questions about me, please feel free to contact my foster mom at ljpfile05@frontier.com as she will be most happy to answer them.  In order to meet me, please go to our website and complete an adoption application.  Once you have done that, someone will be in touch with you soon to set a time for you to meet me.  I will be attending several adoption events so be sure to check each to see if my name is listed. My adoption fee is $250.  I sure hope I get a new family by Christmas, that would be the best gift ever!!

12/7/11 UPDATE:  Just wanted to give you a bit more info about me that my foster mom says may help to find me my forever home.  Because I am so small, my foster mom feels that I will need a family with no children under the age of 8 and no large breed dogs as I am a bit fearful of them and I might get hurt.  I am hoping to gain a little weight before I am adopted as my foster mom says I am very thin and need to add a couple of lbs. which might make me look a bit more sturdy.  My potty manners are very good except when the weather is bad............then I really have to be encouraged to go outside to do my business (typical for a small breed dog).  I've been getting out and about with my foster mom so I'm becoming a bit less afraid of the car rides and I am really enjoying meeting everyone.  My leash training is going much better since I now have a harness, which will be strongly recommended to my new family. Lastly, I'd really like to have a small fur-brother or fur-sister as I enjoy the pupsters here at my foster home.

Happy Holidays.....................Randal

PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog.

Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Our Adoption Process

The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption

Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.

Special Requirements

Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.

The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.

Out of State Adoptions

We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
