*** BOGIE HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING *** Bogie is a 1-2 years old Shih Tzu or Maltese mix. He recently became a new foster to Ohio Fuzzy Pawz, through his removal from a home that had too many animals, in Eastern Ohio. Out of a neglectful situation shines this little gem, with a sparkle in his eyes. He is a happy little boy who is enjoying his new freedom. Bogie loves attention and wants to be with people. He will actively seek you and follow you around the house. He also loves to play with other dogs. He will try to play with the cats, but they are not so interested in wrestling with him. Bogie has a medium activity level and really enjoys his walks.by himself, or with another dog. He wants to go for a walk everyday, even if it is a short one, because he is no longer confined and wants to exercise and socialize with other people and dogs. He has become a people magnet when he is outside and a hit of the neighborhood. He loves to play but also enjoys sitting with you on the couch to watch TV or read. He has not shown any aggression, fears, or negative behaviors from his former life. Bogie is a real gentleman and so far, only chews his toys and does not seem too interested in chewing things that are not his. He is not a loner, and is a constant companion. When he tires out from playing, he will flop down on a dog bed, sometimes belly up.
Bogie has also been working on crate training and doing very well. He does not mind going into his crate, especially if you praise him and give him a doggy treat. He sleeps at night in his crate and does not protest being in there. If he is kept on a regular schedule, Bogie should be fine with his housetraining. He has been a very good boy so far, and his new family should continue with his schedule to prevent him from having an accident. Bogie does not bark often in the house, but can react to let you know that someone is at the door. He would do best in a home with another small dog and a family that is active and will take him with them for rides and to visit fun places like parks, and friends who also have dogs. He has been neutered, brought current on his shots, heartworm tested negative and on prevention.schedule . He is being fostered in Central Ohio and his adoption donation is $300. He will be available after March 1. If you have additional questions about Bogie, please contact his foster mom at erinscrzyacrs@gmail.com. If you are interested in adopting Bogie, the first step in our process is to submit our online application which can be found at http://www.usshihtzurescue.com/adoptmailohin.html *** PLEASE NOTE: We do adopt out of state; however, we do not ship our dogs. We do try to work with out of state adopters by assisting with transports, but in some instances, the adopters may have to come to Ohio to pick up their dog. *** PLEASE NOTE:
If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the
individual webpage of our dogs
, you will be able to get more information each dog.
Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
The adoption process has several steps involved.
Please review prior to submitting an application.
Our adoption process is detailed here:
http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption
Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.
Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.
The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.
No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.
At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.
We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.
We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
